X Men: First Class
Its an epic film, staring with a recap of little Eric arriving at the death camp and doing the gate thing, through to meeting Sebastian Shaw (aka Klaus Schmidt) then to Xavier Manor where a young Charles meets Raven (later to become Mystique). It's an interesting story which at times contradicts the three parent movies of this prequel but it does its own thing with style and aplomb as we see how many of the future heroes and villains start out on their paths to their various destinies, plus a couple of surprises along the way, the film's only real expletive being uttered by the coolest cameo of all time. Beast and Banshee work really well together and Havok is pretty cool too, it'll be interesting to see if there's a follow up movie that covers the lte 60's and early 1970's, as Origins: Wolverine has the late 70's covered and its follow up will most likely cover the 1980's

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
This is my fave book of the series, I have this theory that the penultimate book/season/film in a series is always the best one and so far it's always proved to be true. My fave season of Star Trek: TNG is Season 6, my Harry Potter novel is Half-Blood Prince, my fave Twilight novel is Eclipse, my fave Star Wars film is Empire Strikes Back, and so on.
So a midnight preview showing of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse appealed to me on several levels. One that I get to see it before a lot of people. Two that it proves that I'm not some old maid who has to be in bed before ten. Three that I can still enjoy getting glammed up and going out. Four that I can take advantage of a day off work to do something that I can enjoy that isn't housework.
The film is very good, it featured all my best scenes from the book and put them up on screen. It's also got some great moments of comedy too, Charlie Swann's dry dead pan acting just made slightly amusing one-liners into huge laugh out loud moments. All the Cullen siblings get a moment to shine, although the focus is on Edward (naturally), Rosealie & Jasper. Poor Esme hardly gets any screen time at all, although Carlisle gets a little more. Victoria's general Riley gets a lot more screen time, which is necessary I guess to build him up as more of a threat for the final battle. It's a good film and it leaves things in a good state for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn...

Sex and the City 2
a good film with some generous semi male nudity and male crotch shots to keep my eyes on the screen as well as an interesting camel toe shot/joke and a generous bra-less big breasted woman running shot to satisfy my love of the ladies. The boys definetly take a back seat in this film as its all about the ladies as they bitch and moan and support each other when they're down. It's about friendship and love and finding ways to have people in your life even when your interests pull you in different directions. There's also some genuine points raised about the need to keep the feminist cause alive and relevant for the 2010's or we'll all be eating fries under a veil, unless we choose to do that of course, then it's empowerment not oppression.
